Firefox Proxy Setup

Mozilla Firefox has built-in proxy settings that are independent of system settings. This makes it convenient for working with proxies.

Quick Setup

1. Open Settings (Menu → Settings)
2. Scroll to Network Settings
3. Click Settings...

Configuration Types

Manual Setup

For HTTP/HTTPS proxy:
- HTTP Proxy: proxy.example.com
- Port: 8080
- ☑️ Use this proxy for all protocols

For SOCKS5:
- SOCKS Host: proxy.example.com
- Port: 1080
- ○ SOCKS v5

Automatic Configuration (PAC)

Specify auto-configuration file URL:

http://example.com/proxy.pac

Setup with Authentication

Firefox will automatically request login and password on first connection. For automatic authentication:

1. Open about:config
2. Find network.proxy.socks_remote_dns
3. Set to true

Testing

After setup, verify IP:
1. Open httpbin.org/ip
2. Ensure proxy IP is shown

Proxy Extensions

For convenient proxy switching, use extensions:

• FoxyProxy — quick switching
• Proxy SwitchyOmega — domain rules

Reset Settings

To disable proxy:
1. Return to Network Settings
2. Select No proxy
3. Click OK

Troubleshooting

Proxy not working:
- Check address and port correctness
- Ensure proxy is online
- Verify login/password

Slow loading:
- Try another server
- Check proxy speed
